How Instructor Commission Works
When a student purchases a course, the marketplace applies the commission rate applicable to that course.
The applicable commission is deducted from the eligible course sale amount, and the remaining amount is allocated to the instructor's earnings.
Commission rates may vary
The applicable rate may be determined by the marketplace's current commission settings or by a specific commission rate assigned to an individual course.
Example of a Course Sale
The following is an example to explain how the calculation works. It is not a guarantee that every course will use this rate.
$79.00 × 5% = $3.95 commission, leaving $75.05 as the instructor share.
Course-Specific Commission Rates
Different courses may have different commission arrangements. The marketplace may apply a general commission setting or a specific rate assigned to an individual course.
Marketplace Commission
A current marketplace commission setting may apply when a course does not have a specific commission rate.
Course-Specific Rate
An individual course may have its own applicable commission rate determined through the marketplace course workflow.
Instructor Earnings
Instructor earnings are recorded from completed eligible sales after the applicable marketplace commission has been accounted for.
- Completed eligible sales contribute to the instructor balance.
- Applicable marketplace commission is accounted for before the instructor share is recorded.
- Instructors can use the instructor dashboard to monitor relevant sales, commission deductions and balances.
- Eligible balances can be used within the marketplace payout process.
Refunds and Reversed Transactions
If a purchase is refunded or otherwise reversed, the related instructor earnings and marketplace commission may be adjusted according to the transaction's final status.
- Refunded transactions are not treated as completed earnings.
- Related instructor earnings may be reversed or adjusted.

Payouts
Eligible instructor balances may be requested through the marketplace payout process.

Instructor Agreement

The marketplace may update its commission, payout or transaction policies when necessary.
